Opposed to USCG’s Decision to Close Newport Air Facility, Dec. 2

More groups and organizations are stepping up to show their opposition to the U.S. Coast Guard’s announcement that they will close the Newport Day Facility on Dec. 15th, and cover the Central Oregon Coast by air from North Bend and Astoria. The Fishermen’s Wives group in Newport has filed a lawsuit to try and reverse the USCG’s decision. That suit has been joined by the City of Newport, Port of Newport, Lincoln County and now the Association of Oregon Counties, representing all 36 counties of the State of Oregon. The Association calls on the United States Coast Guard to reverse this decision and ask for the assistance of all local, state and federal officials in this task.
