OPRD Looking for Volunteers to Serve, Aug. 9

OPRD release – The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is accepting applications to fill two positions on a committee that allocates funding to county projects that involve recreational vehicle camping. The seven-member County Opportunity Grant Program Advisory Committee (also referred to as the County Parks Assistance Advisory Committee) is seeking a representative of a county parks department and a recreational vehicle owner.  The main function of the committee is to read, assess and score grant applications submitted to the County Opportunity Grant Program, and attend a one-day grant application presentation meeting typically held in Salem each November. (The meeting may be virtual, depending on the status of the pandemic.) Expectations and responsibilities are listed on the program website. Committee members serve up to two consecutive four-year terms. OPRD will reimburse all travel, meals and lodging expenses associated with committee meetings.  The County Opportunity Grant Program is funded by a portion of Recreational Vehicle registration fees and is administered by OPRD. The program provides around $850,000 annually to Oregon county sponsored projects that involve recreational vehicle camping and related campground amenities. Interested applicants should submit a Committee Interest Form found at oregon.gov/oprd/GRA/pages/GRA-cogp by Sep. 15. OPRD is committed to ensuring that all committees represent the growing age, ethnic and gender diversity of the State. New committee members will be appointed by the OPRD Director.
