The Oregon Board of Forestry will meet in Salem on July 25. The meeting is open to the public and a public comment period is on the agenda. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m., and go through approximately 3 p.m., with an Executive Session following and scheduled to end at approximately 4 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Tillamook Room, Administration Building C, at the Oregon Department of Forestry headquarters, located at 2600 State St., in Salem. Agenda items include: * Committee for Family Forestlands Annual Report — Presentation on activities of the Committee for Family Forestlands, discuss progress on key issues, and make recommendations on policy topics affecting family forestland owners. * Progress Report and Update of Board Work Plans — Progress report and update on the Board of Forestry Work Plans for each of the agency’s divisions, forecasting work from July 2017 through April 2018. * Proposed Final Order Review: John West — Consider the hearing record for contested orders of the state forester involving forest practices violations by John West. * Specified Resource Sites Rulemaking for Bald Eagles — In March 2017, the Board of Forestry approved draft rule language for Bald Eagles, including modified rules for nest sites under OAR 629-665-0100 Species Using Sensitive Bird Nesting, Roosting and Watering Sites. The department will present a summary of public comments, final rule language, and ask the Board for approval of final rule language. * Annual Topic: 2017 Fire Season Update; * Forest Practices Act Rule Policy Review — An update of the process to scope streamside protection monitoring questions for the Eastern Oregon and Siskiyou geographic regions including: 1) a summary of analyses thus far, preliminary results, and a timeline for future work; and, 2) a draft decision framework to help organize information for future decisions. * Forest Trust Land Advisory Committee Testimony — The FTLAC is a statutorily established committee that advises the Board of Forestry on state forests policy. * Executive Session — As the last item on the agenda, the board will meet in executive session to confer with legal counsel regarding the Board’s rights and duties related to current litigation likely to be filed pursuant to Oregon Revised Statute 192.660(2)(h).
