SALEM, Ore.—The Oregon Board of Forestry will meet at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9. In compliance with Gov. Kate Brown’s directive on physical distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19, this will be a virtual public meeting. The meeting agenda includes: Hearings regarding forest patrol assessments; Update on Fire Season; Updates from the Forest Health and Forest Practices Monitoring units; Review of Forestry Program for Oregon, Goal G—Climate Change; Forest Trust Land Advisory Committee Testimony; Western Oregon Forest Management Plan Update; View the agenda for additional topics to be discussed at https://www.oregon.gov/odf/board/pages/bofmeetings.aspx. The meeting will be livestreamed and public comment will be accepted. Live testimony is reserved for Board decision items (Item 2, Hearings before the Board of Forestry). The Board will also hold an executive session, to consider information or records that are exempt from disclosure by law, under ORS 192.660(2)(f), and to confer with legal counsel regarding the Board’s rights and duties related to current litigation likely to be filed, per ORS 192.660(2)(h). The Oregon Board of Forestry consists of seven citizens nominated by the Governor and confirmed by the Oregon Senate. Responsibilities include appointing the State Forester, setting management direction for state-owned forests, adopting rules governing timber harvest and other practices on private forestland, and promoting sustainable management of Oregon’s 30 million-acre forestland base.
