The Oregon Department of Agriculture and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife are reopening a portion of the coast to recreational and commercial mussel harvesting, from Tillamook Head in Clatsop County to the north jetty of Yaquina Bay at Newport. Shellfish samples taken from the area indicate levels of paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs) have dropped below the alert level. The area was originally closed to mussel harvesting April 18, 2014. With the reopening, the entire Oregon Coast is now open to all recreational and commercial shellfish harvesting.
