SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL) next week will hold two virtual public hearings to receive comment on proposed rule changes. Oregon Ocean Science Trust Rule Hearing – The proposed rule changes would allow the Oregon Ocean Science Trust to partner with private nonprofits for fundraising purposes. Columbia River Use Restrictions Hearing – The proposed rule would restrict camping, campfires, and overnight use along several stretches of the Columbia River in Portland. Read the full news release on the proposed changes. Wednesday, June 17, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Zoom Meeting. The meeting link, call-in information, and testimony signup instructions are available on the DSL website. Written comments accepted until July 1, 2020 at 4 p.m. – The public comment period for both proposed rules will be open until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. Comments must be received by this date and time to be considered. Written comments may be submitted on the DSL website by online form, by email to rules@dsl.state.or.us, or by mail to Rules Coordinator, 775 Summer St. NE, Suite 100, Salem, Oregon 97301. When the public comment period closes, DSL will consider any comments received and revise the rule drafts as needed. The earliest the permanent rules would go into effect is August 1, 2020.
