The Pac-12 champion Oregon Ducks are headed back to the Rose Bowl for the third time in six seasons, to face defending national champion Florida State on Jan. 1 in one semifinal game of the inaugural College Football Playoff. The playoff’s selection committee gave Oregon a No. 2 seed into the semifinals, and the Seminoles are No. 3. Top-seeded Alabama was given the right to play closer to home at the other semifinal venue, the Sugar Bowl, where the Crimson Tide will take on No. 4 Ohio State.

The Oregon volleyball team secured a spot in the sweet sixteen of the NCAA Tournament with a four-set win against LSU, Friday, 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20. The Ducks (23-9) surged to a sizeable lead midway through the first set, but had to fight off an LSU run which came as close as 21-19, before moving on to a 25-22 win. Oregon will play either UNC or USC, Friday, Dec. 12, at either 4 p.m. PT or 7 p.m. PT. That match will be live on ESPN3. Continuing one of the best seasons in program history, the Oregon State volleyball team (21-12) defeated the University of Arkansas – Little Rock in a 5-set comeback thriller, 25-15, 19-25, 22-25, 28-26, 19-17. The Beavers advance to the Sweet 16 in Ames, Iowa and will face the top-seeded Stanford Cardinal, Friday, Dec. 12 with a yet to be determined time. The match will air on ESPN3. Five Pac-12 teams are in the Round of 16.

The Oregon women’s basketball team outscored Navy by 29 points in the second half and overcame a 23-point deficit to beat the Midshipmen, 72-64, on Saturday night at Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon returns to action next Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. against Northern Arizona at Matthew Knight Arena.

Ole Miss used an offensive burst late in the first half to propel themselves to the win Sunday afternoon at Matthew Knight Arena over the UO men’s basketball team, 79-73. The Rebels closed the half on a 24-9 run and never trailed for the rest of the game. Oregon will play No. 24 Illinois in Chicago on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. (PT). The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Victor Robbins scored a career-high 18 points and Gary Payton II registered his third consecutive double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, as Oregon State took down Portland in overtime, 65-58, at the Chiles Center on Saturday night. Coming up, the Beavers are set to face off with Mississippi State next Saturday, Dec. 13 at 1:00 p.m. in a game televised on the Pac-12 Networks.

The No. 17/18 Oregon State women’s basketball team erupted for the second-most points in school history on Saturday in a 109-61 rout of Sacramento State at Gill Coliseum. The Beavers are now idle until a Dec. 16 matchup at North Carolina, the first in a six-game road trip. Their next home game is Jan. 9, 2015, against Oregon.

Senior 184-pounder Taylor Meeks placed second on Saturday at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. Meeks lost 5-2 to Blake Stauffer in the championship match to go 4-1 in the two-day event. He edged top-seeded Gabriel Dean of Cornell 4-3 in the semifinals earlier Saturday. The Beavers scored 56 team points and placed 10th at the 39-team event, one of the country’s premier tournaments. Minnesota won the tournament.
