Damyean Dotson stole a pass from Dallin Bachynski and raced untouched for a breakaway dunk with 1 second left in overtime and No. 10 Oregon remained unbeaten with a 70-68 victory over Utah on Thursday night in the Pac-12 opener for both teams. Richard Amardi had 14 points and Dominic Artis added 12 for the Ducks (13-0, 1-0) who are off to their best start since winning 13 straight games to open the 2006-07 season. Jordan Loveridge scored 21 points for Utah, while Delon Wright chipped in 14 and Bachynski added 11 points and 12 rebounds. The Utes (11-2, 0-1) led by as many as 10 points in the second half, but could not overcome the last-second turnover. Oregon plays at Colorado Sunday.

Roberto Nelson scored a game-high 23 points, but Oregon State was unable to upset No. 20 Colorado in the opening game of Pac-12 play, falling 64-58 on Thursday night at the Coors Events Center. Nelson carried the Beavers offensively, hitting 3-of-5 shots from behind the arc and converting on all 10 of his shots from the free throw line. The senior also added three rebounds and two assists. Eric Moreland made his highly anticipated season debut for Oregon State (8-5) after missing the first 12 games for a violation of team rules. The versatile big man made his presence felt early, pulling down eight boards in the first half, helping the Beavers outrebound the Buffs 21-14 at the break. Moreland finished with 10 rebounds for Oregon State, the 30th time he has double-figure rebounds in his career. OSU plays at Utah on Saturday.

Oregon and Oregon State’s women’s basketball teams open Pac-12 play tonight in California’s Bay Area. The Ducks play at Stanford, while the Beavers are at California. On Sunday, they’ll switch opponents.
