The University of Oregon has been invited to the “Big Dance.” The Ducks (2308) will play in the NCAA basketball tournament with a second round match up with BYU on Thursday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Oregon is the No. 7 seed in the West Region. The Cougars are the 10th seed. The two teams met in Eugene back in December with Oregon winning 100-96 in overtime.

It was a historic night for Oregon track and field as both the men and women’s teams were crowned NCAA Indoor Champions, Saturday. The men’s team sealed its first championship since 2009 after a strong showing in the 3,000, while the women used every last meter to claim five-straight NCAA Indoor titles, making them only the third team in meet history to accomplish the feat.

Tyler Baumgartner drove in three runs and Jeff Gold was effective on the mound over six innings to lead No. 12 Oregon to a 7-2 win over USC on Sunday at PK Park. The Ducks clinched the series over the Trojans with the win. Oregon (14-5, 2-1 Pac-12); USC (10-8, 1-2 Pac-12).

Jace Fry allowed just three hits in a complete-game shutout Sunday as the fourth-ranked Oregon State baseball team swept Utah with an 8-0 win at Smith’s Ballpark. Oregon State has won 24 of its last 30 (80 percent) conference series dating back to 2011, with nine coming as sweeps. It’s the third consecutive season OSU has opened conference play with a sweep, doing so at Cal in 2012 and at Arizona in 2013 in addition to this season. OSU (18-3 overall, 3-0 Pac-12 Conference); Utah (8-10, 0-3).

The No. 2 ranked Oregon softball team saw its eight-game winning streak end in the title game of the Pepsi Rainbow Wahine Classic after a, 3-0, loss to James Madison on Saturday afternoon. The Ducks went 5-1 at the tournament, which was hosted by the University of Hawai’i, sweeping through the four games of round robin play plus the semifinal before falling in title game on Saturday. The Ducks (23-3) scored no runs on five hits with two errors while the Dukes (19-9) tallied three runs on nine hits with four errors. Oregon was shutout for the first time this season.

A three-run fifth inning lifted the Oregon State softball team to another upset win over No. 5/7 Arizona State, 3-1 Sunday afternoon at OSU Softball Complex in Corvallis. The victory gave the Beavers their first series win over the Sun Devils since 2010, and their first series victory over a top-10 team since taking a pair from No. 9 Washington in 2012. Oregon State (11-14, 2-1 Pac-12); Arizona State (27-5, 1-2).
