North Carolina State’s changeup artist was asked to change it up Saturday, in order to help the Wolfpack stave off elimination by Oregon in their NCAA Super Regional at Howe Field. As usual, it didn’t take the Ducks long to adjust. And now they’re headed back to college softball’s promised land: Oklahoma City, and the Women’s College World Series. Facing a steady diet of riseballs from changeup specialist Emily Weiman, the Ducks found their groove at the plate in the fourth inning, for the second day in a row. Another four-run rally keyed Oregon’s 9-3 victory before a record 2,061 fans bidding adieu to Howe Field, sending the Ducks (51-6) to Oklahoma City for the third time in four years.

Tim Susnara’s RBI single in the 11th inning gave Oregon its second consecutive walk-off win over No. 2 UCLA (32014, 22-8 Pac-12) in the teams’ regular-season finale on Sunday at PK Park in Eugene. The victory gave the Ducks (37-23, 16-14 Pac-12) the win in the three-game series and made a strong statement for a team fighting to earn an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament on Monday morning. “We’ve got our fingers, legs and everything that we can cross, we’re going to cross,” said Head Coach George Horton. “Hopefully the committee respects the fact that we’ve got 37 wins on the West Coast, that’s not easy to do.”

The 18th-ranked Oregon State baseball team dropped a 7-3 decision to No. 25 California Sunday afternoon in front of a season-high sellout crowd of 3,368 at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. The game marked the season finale for both clubs as the Beavers finished second in the Pac-12 Conference with a 19-10-1 league record. OSU, which will find out its postseason destination at 9 a.m. on Monday morning, is now 38-16-1.
