The No. 1 ranked Oregon softball team claimed its second straight Pac-12 title on Thursday with a win at Arizona and a loss by UCLA at Arizona State.  Oregon (48-6-1, 19-2-1 Pac-12) entered the final three-game series of the regular season 1.5 games up on UCLA in the Pac-12 standings. The Ducks’ 7-3 win in Tucson in the series opener, combined with UCLA’s 2-0 loss to Arizona State in Tempe clinched the Pac-12 championship for Oregon.  It’s the Ducks’ second straight conference championship and second ever in program history.

Senior Hannah Bouska hit her sixth double of the season, but the Oregon State softball team fell to Stanford 8-2 Thursday evening in Stanford, Calif.  Bouska finished the day 2-for-3 with a run. Freshman Amee Aarhus also ended the evening 2-for-3 with a run. Junior Dani Gilmore recorded a hit and a walk in the contest, as she moved into sole possession of second on Oregon State’s career walks list with 97.

Oregon State hosts UCLA in a Pac-12 baseball series beginning tonight, 7:30 p.m., at Goss Stadium in Corvallis.  Saturday’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m., and Sunday 3 p.m.

Oregon’s baseball team has a three-game Pac-12 series at Arizona State in Tempe, AZ starting tonight, 6:30 p.m.  Saturday’s game 6:30 p.m., and Sunday noon.

Oregon hosts its annual Twilight Track Meet tonight, 4:30 p.m., at Hayward Field in Eugene.   The Pac-12 Decathlon and Heptathlon Championships are Saturday and Sunday at WSU in Pullman, WA.

Former Oregon State record setting and consensus All-American receiver Brandin Cooks was selected in Thursday’s first round of the National Football League Draft by the New Orleans Saints. Cooks was the 20th player selected in the Draft overall and becomes the first Beaver to be picked in the opening round since Steven Jackson was the 24th player by St. Louis in 2004. He is also is the highest selected Beaver since Heisman Trophy recipient Terry Baker was No. 1 in the 1963 draft by the then Los Angeles Rams.
