SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon Outdoor Recreation Committee (OORC) will meet May 5 and 6 via web conference to evaluate grant applications for the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant program. Brown’s March 23 executive order regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. On May 5, a business meeting begins 8:30 a.m. with an overview of the grant program. Grant applicant presentations begin 9:45 a.m. and continue throughout the day until 3:15 p.m. On May 6, presentations resume at 8:35 a.m. and continue until noon. The committee will then finalize scoring and establish a priority ranking list of applicants. Recommendations will then be submitted to the National Park Service for final approval. OORC is a nine-member committee appointed by the director of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD). Committee members represent a variety of interests: counties, cities, parks and recreation districts, metro and port districts, people with disabilities, Tribal governments, and the public at large. The Land and Water Conservation Fund grant program provides matching funds to state and local governments for acquiring and developing public outdoor recreation areas and facilities. Since 1964, this national grant has awarded more than $60 million for Oregon recreational areas and facilities.
