Oregon School Law Immunization Requirements, Aug. 2

Oregon law requires specific immunizations for school attendance. The goal of Oregon’s immunization law is to make sure kids can go to school in a safe and healthy environment. Vaccines are one of the most important and effective ways you can protect your child from contracting serious diseases. Immunizations prevent disease; keep our communities safe, and help keep down health care costs. In school year 2016-2017, Coos Health & Wellness mailed 740 school exclusion letters to parents of children attending school who were not up-to-date with immunization requirements. Of the 740 children, 101 children were still not up-to-date on Exclusion Day in February. These children were not allowed to return to school until they received the required immunizations. To avoid this happening to you and your child, please note the required immunizations for next school year listed below and schedule an appointment to ensure your child is up-to-date.
