The University of Oregon landed the sixth best baseball early recruiting class for 2014 according to the Perfect Game USA annual evaluation of NCAA Division I baseball classes. The Ducks class features 12 freshmen, including catcher Alex Jackson, the nation’s third ranked overall prospect.

Liz Brenner and Ariana Williams garnered regional recognition, Tuesday, as Brenner was named to the Pacific North All-Region Team and Williams was selected as an honorable mention. Brenner, a junior, led the Pac-12 with 4.67 kills/set, a mark that ranks ninth in the nation. She was also a key component in the Ducks’ defense with 3.15 digs/set, second on the team. During the team’s last match at Nebraska, Brenner jumped to fourth in the Oregon record book with 547.5 points this season. The junior also registered 514 kills this season, eighth best all-time. The honor is the second for the Portland, Ore., native who made the All-America Second Team last season after being named all-region. This is the first all-region honor for Williams, who continued her progression through her senior year. Williams finished with the team’s top hitting percentage at .344 and was the second-leading offensive threat at 3.03 kills/set. The .344 clip is fourth-best in Oregon history, giving the Riverside, Calif., native the fourth and fifth best marks after hitting .334 last season. Brenner and Williams rank sixth and seventh on the all-time career points list, respectively.
