An outstanding defensive effort helped power the No. 7/7 Oregon State women’s basketball team to season-sweep of USC, as the Beavers defeated the Women of Troy 68-35 Saturday afternoon in front of a crowd of 4,511 at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis. The Beavers held USC to 25 percent shooting in the contest, as the Women of Troy scored their lowest total in school history. USC is the eighth team the Beavers have limited to less than 30 percent shooting this season. The Beavers are back in action Monday when they host UCLA at 7 p.m.

Cold-shooting Oregon State fell 57-34 to No. 6 Arizona on Friday night in a Pacific-12 Conference game at the McKale Center in Tucson, AZ. Junior forward Olaf Schaftenaar led the Beavers with eight points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Malcolm Duvivier added seven points and three assists and junior forward Jarmal Reid had seven points. The Beavers (14-7, 5-4 Pac-12) hit 14 of 49 attempts (.286) as Arizona (20-2, 8-1) avenged a 58-56 loss to the Beavers in Corvallis on Jan. 11 to earn a split of the season series. OSU also could not get to the foul line as Arizona enjoyed a 16-5 edge in attempts and outscored the Beavers 13-3 from the line. The Beavers resume Pac-12 play against Washington State at 7 p.m. Thursday at Gill Coliseum, where they are 12-0 this season. OSU defeated the Cougars 62-47 in Pullman on Jan. 17; the game will be televised by Pac-12 Networks.

Behind a herculean effort by Jillian Alleyne, the Oregon women’s basketball team erased a 14-point lead in the second half to defeat UCLA, 67-65, on Saturday afternoon at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene. Alleyne capped the comeback win by scoring the game-winning bucket with 1.8 seconds left. The Ducks improved to 9-11 (2-7 Pac-12) with the win, while the Bruins move to 8-12 (4-5). The Ducks play host to USC at 5 p.m. on Monday at Matthew Knight Arena. The game will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks.

Joseph Young shook off a poor shooting night to hit a jumper with 25.6 seconds left in overtime to give Oregon a 68-67 victory over Arizona State on Friday night in Tempe, AZ. Young was 3 of 11 from the field before his mid-range jumper gave him 14 points. Elgin Cook added 22 points as the Ducks (15-7, 5-4) bounced back from their worst loss of the season two days earlier at Arizona. Oregon hosts Washington on Wednesday at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.

Alex Elder and Seth Thomas started the match off with bonus points and the Oregon State wrestling team won its 11th consecutive dual on Friday night with a 36-6 victory at Utah Valley University. Elder (157) earned a technical fall and Thomas pinned to give the Beavers (8-0) an quick 11-0 lead. OSU won six more weight classes to begin its second straight weekend road trip in impressive fashion. The Oregon State wrestling team scored one of its biggest dual wins of the season on Sunday by edging Oklahoma 20-17 to conclude another successful road trip. The 20th-ranked Beavers (9-0) thus extended their winning streak to 12 consecutive duals over the past two seasons. They opened the weekend with a 36-6 rout at Utah Valley University on Friday night. The Beavers return home after four consecutive road duals to face Cal Poly at 7 p.m. Saturday in a Pacific-12 Conference dual at Gill Coliseum. It’s Senior Night; seniors Brian Engdahl, Joe Latham, Meeks, Kurtis Ramsay, Pat Rollins and Nick Schlager will be honored before the match.
