Roberto Nelson scored a game-high 26 points and Angus Brandt added 14 of his own to power Oregon State to a 66-55 victory over Washington State on Wednesday night at Beasley Coliseum. Nelson showed why he is the Pac-12’s leading scorer, filling it up from all over the court with an 11-for-15 shooting performance. The Santa Barbara, Calif. native went 3-of-5 from three-point land and also pulled down four rebounds for the Beavers (11-7, 3-3).

Kim Hyatt, a former Oregon javelin thrower from 1989-92 and three-time All-American, has been named the recipient of the 2014 Becky L. Sisley Award with a presentation ceremony for the award to take place, Friday, Jan. 24 at halftime of the women’s basketball game against Washington State. The Becky L Sisley Award was established to honor former women varsity athletes 20-25 years after graduation who have excelled in their profession, been an active member in their community, and have provided support to the University of Oregon. It parallels the Leo Harris Award given to a former male athlete each fall. Hyatt is currently the Dean and Athletic Director of Health, Physical Education, Athletics, Aquatics and Recreation at Mt. After capturing its first ever Pac-12 title a season ago, the Oregon softball team has been picked eighth in the 2014 preseason National Fastpitch Coaches Association top-25 poll. Oregon has reached the NCAA Tournament all four years under head coach Mike White, the 2013 Pac-12 Coach of the Year. The Ducks advanced to the Super Regionals a year ago after winning 50 games, the second most in program history.

Michael Conforto was named a first-team preseason All-American by Perfect Game USA on Monday, while Dylan Davis and Andrew Moore were named to its second team. The three Oregon State selections are second most in the country, behind only Virginia. Conforto is the lone player from the Pac-12 Conference on the first team while Moore and Davis join Stanford’s Alex Blandino and UCLA’s David Berg as second-team selections from the league. It is Conforto’s second preseason first-team selection, and for good reason. He was named the Pac-12’s Player of the Year in 2013 after batting .328 with a league-leading 11 home runs and 47 runs driven in. He comes into his junior year with 24 career home runs, just 11 shy of the program’s all-time record. For Davis and Moore, it is their third preseason honors.
