No License Plate Light
A black Honda Accord, pulled over for a traffic stop by an Oregon State Police trooper July 8, 12:41 a.m., on the 1600 block of Newmark Ave. in Coos Bay, led to an arrest.  According to an OSP report, the vehicle did not have a license plate light and “the driver showed signs and symptoms of impairment.”  Forty-nine year old Duane Lee Leafdahl, Coos Bay, failed a Field Sobriety Test and was transported to Coos Bay PD and charged with DUII – Alcohol and Controlled Substances.

Wrong Name
A black Honda Civic, stopped for Failure to Drive within Lane July 8, 6:33 a.m., led to two arrests and the impounding of the vehicle.  According to an OSP report, “the vehicle was the subject of a driving complaint and , after I saw the operator fail to drive within his lane, I effected a traffic stop.”  The driver, 36-year old Samuel Vincent Goldfaden, Bandon, admitted to being suspended and uninsured.  “A DMV records check found his status to be misdemeanor.  He was arrested and taken into custody.”  A passenger, 25-year old Anthony Michael Ornelas, Bandon, authorized a consent search.  He was in possession of mail and documents bearing another name than he had previously claimed.  Ornelas was arrested for Identity Theft.  Both were transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Commercial Fishing Complaint
A captain of a commercial fishing vessel was cited for Take/Possession of Non-Adipose Fin-Clipped Commercial Coho Salmon – Misdemeanor, after an ODFW Fish Checker at the Bandon Pacific Seafood plant in Charleston found the non-fin clipped Coho July 8, 8:59 a.m., after being off-loaded from the F/V Tiburon.  According to an OSP report, the fish was seized as evidence and the captain, 56-year old David Rickel, was contacted July 9 and cited.

Felony warrants
A wanted felon was arrested by Oregon State Police troopers July 9, 8:39 p.m., following a tip to a Parole Officer that he was staying near Powers at the China Flats Campground.  According to an OSP report, 42-year old Bobby Franklin Hunter, Powers, was wanted in Coos County and Arkansas.  He was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

Unlawful Sale of Crab
A 45-year old male was cited for the Unlawful Sale of Sport Caught Dungeness Crab after he allegedly advertised on Craig’s List.  According to an Oregon State Police report, Erik A. Turner was cited for Sale/Barter of Sport Caught Fish/Shellfish – Misdemeanor July 11, 9:33 p.m.

Serious Injury
A 20-year old Bandon male received serious injuries following a single-vehicle accident July 12, 10:57 p.m., on Hwy. 101, between Kehl Road and Oberman Lane, Bandon.  According to an OSP report, the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck left the roadway, traveled into a roadside ditch, severed a utility pole, destroyed a street sign, slid into a decorative flower bed wall, vaulted it, destroyed another sign and came to rest upside down in the ditch.  Benjamen Joesph Lindsay was identified as the driver.

Odor of Alcohol
A red Pontiac, allegedly traveling at an excessive speed through a construction zone, was stopped July 13, 3:22 a.m., on East Bay Road and Glasgow Lane. According to an OSP report, “an odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from the vehicle’s interior, and the operator was exhibiting signs of impairment.”  Thirty-three year old Harold Wiley Boesch, North Bend, admitted to consuming “only a single Corona brand beer, and was unable to perform field sobriety tests.”  He was placed into custody for DUII and transported to the North Bend PD.  A male passenger was visibly intoxicated and released.  The vehicle was towed.  Boesch was cited for Speeding, Driving Outside of Restrictions; Corrective Lenses, and issued criminal citations for DUII and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.  He was released to a sober, licensed adult family member.

Shellfish Operation
Fish & Game Officers for the Oregon State Police conducted a “Shellfish Operation” on Coos Bay July 13.  According to three OSP reports, 75-year old Robert Hugh Carter, Eugene, was contacted at 8:39 a.m.  He had in his possession 12 gaper clams and one cockle.  “Said he thought he had bought one this year,” but a records check showed no shellfish license for 2014.  He was cited for No Shellfish License and the clams seized.  The gapers went to the South Coast Gospel Mission in Coos Bay and the cockle returned to the clam bed.  At 9:35 a.m., 74-year old Gary Wayne McDaniel, Myrtle Point, was cited for Exceeding the Bag Limit.  He was five over in gaper clams and they were seized and taken to the Mission.  At 10 a.m., 42-year old Monique A. Campbell, Lakeside, was contacted and found to be in violation of the bag limit on gaper clams (23 over).  She was also in possession of a female Dungeness crab.  Campbell was cited for Exceeding the Bag Limit and Unlawful Possession of Dungeness Crab.  The clams went to the Mission and the crab was released.
