The Oregon State women’s basketball team moved up two spots to No. 7 in this week’s Associated Press Poll, which was released Monday. The ranking is the highest in school history, surpassing the No. 9 ranking the Beavers held the last two weeks. Oregon State has continued its ascent up the rankings all season, after starting the year ranked 20th in the preseason AP Poll. The Beavers are coming off a convincing 68-57 win at No. 12/13 Arizona State on Sunday, as Oregon State took over sole possession of first-place in the Pac-12 with a perfect 8-0 conference record. The win was the Beavers’ first in Tempe since 1996. Oregon State also opened the weekend by defeating Arizona 73-55 in Tucson. Overall, the Beavers are 18-1 this season, their best ever record through 19 games.

Junior guard Jamie Weisner has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday, Jan. 26. The release comes on the heels of Sunday’s announcement that Weisner is the ESPNW National Player of the Week. Weisner averaged 18.0 points and 6.3 rebounds over the course of the three-game week for Oregon State, helping the Beavers to three victories, including a win over No. 12/13 Arizona State on Sunday. Weisner put up 21 points against the Sun Devils, shooting 8-for-14 from the floor and 3-for-4 from 3-point range, while pulling down five boards in the contest. The Clarkston, Wash. native’s best scoring performance of the week came on Monday, when she tallied 26 points, eight rebounds and a career-high six 3-pointers in a win over Washington. She also notched seven points and six rebounds against Arizona on Friday. Overall, Weisner shot 55.9 percent from the floor and 62.5 percent from long-range over the course of the week.

Oregon State junior guard Gary Payton II was named the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday, Jan. 26. Payton II averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals to lead the Beavers to a home sweep over the L.A. schools. He had 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals against UCLA and followed that with a double-double against USC with 21 points and 10 rebounds. He also had a game-clinching steal in the final seconds against the Trojans.

The Oregon State wrestling team stretched its winning streak to 10 consecutive duals over the past two seasons on Sunday with a 35-6 victory at South Dakota State. Ronnie Bresser (125) and Jack Hathaway (133) gave the Beavers a 12-0 lead by pinning their opponents in the first two bouts and the 20th-ranked Beavers (7-0) cruised from there. OSU won 8 of 10 bouts and earned bonus points in four weight classes in the first match ever between the Beavers and Jackrabbits (8-6). Cody Crawford (197) pinned and Taylor Meeks (184) earned a technical fall to join Bresser and Hathaway as bonus scorers. Devin Reynolds (141), Abraham Rodriguez (149), Seth Thomas (165) and Joe Latham (174) added wins by decision. The Beavers hit the road again next weekend for duals at Utah Valley State on Friday and at Oklahoma on Feb. 1. OSU’s next home match is Feb. 7 Senior Night bout against Cal Poly, starting at 7 p.m. Seniors Brian Engdahl, Latham, Meeks, Kurtis Ramsay, Pat Rollins and Nick Schlager will be honored before the match.
