Junior guard Gary Payton II had his first career double-double on Wednesday but Oregon State fell 71-69 to Auburn in the consolation game of the MGM Grand Main Event Heavyweight bracket at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Payton II hit 8 of 11 shots from the field and posted career-highs with 20 points and 12 rebounds. He was 2-for-4 from behind the arc and added three assists, a steal a block and had only one turnover in an outstanding all-around performance. The Beavers (3-2) host Mississippi Valley State of the Southwestern Athletic Conference at 9 p.m. Wednesday at Gill Coliseum in their next game. The game will be televised by Pac-12 Networks.

The Oregon state volleyball team (18-12, 8-11 Pac-12) traveled to Colorado for their last road match of the regular season, battling the No. 18 Colorado Buffaloes (19-12, 11-8 Pac-12) Wednesday afternoon. The Beavers fought throughout the match, but were eventually felled 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 19-25, 25-17). The Beavers end the regular season with a return to Corvallis and Gill Coliseum for a Friday, Nov. 28 match at 3 p.m. against the Oregon Ducks. The Civil War match presented by PacificSource Health Plans, The Oregon 529 College Savings Network, McDonalds, Spirit Mountain Casino and Your Local Ford Stores will be the final regular season match for both teams. The match will be available on Pac-12 Oregon and Pac-12 Washington.
