More than 14,000 people attended the three-day OSAA 3A basketball tournament at Marshfield and North Bend high schools in Coos Bay March 2-4. The boys and girls tourneys wrapped up Saturday night with the crowning of new champions. Blanchet Catholic of Salem won the girl’s title 36-34 over defending champion Dayton, and Dayton’s boys won the championship 64-55 over De La Salle North Catholic of Portland. Harrisburg won the third place trophy 55-45 over Cascade Christian of Medford, and Salem Academy won fourth place 62-61 over Amity. In the girl’s bracket, Salem Academy won third, 36-17 over Coquille, and Portland Adventist Academy grabbed the fourth place trophy with a 52-43 win over Nyssa.
