The Executive Board of the Oregon Schools Activities Association (OSAA) voted Monday to accept the final recommendation of its Classification & Districting Committee resulting in North Bend moving up from the 4A Far West League to the 5A Midwestern League beginning with the 2018-19 school year.  Marshfield will remain in the 4A FWL.  The move to a new classification for the next four school years will add miles to the Bulldog sports teams as they compete against Springfield, Thurston, Willamette, North Eugene, & Churchill, all in the Eugene area, and then add Ashland, Crater & Eagle Pt. from Southern Oregon.  The Pirates will be in a six team classification that includes Siuslaw, Junction City, Elmira, Cottage Grove and Marist Catholic in Eugene.  Marist Catholic is stepping down from the 5A MWL.  The 2A Sunset Conference returns the smaller South Coast schools into one league with Coquille, Myrtle Pt., Bandon, Gold Beach, & Reedsport, joining Waldport & Toledo from the Central Coast.
