OSU bb
Oregon State first baseman KJ Harrison and catcher Logan Ice have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-West Region Second Team, it was announced. The ABCA honor is the second of Harrison’s career following his second team selection last season. Ice, meanwhile, is honored for the first time. Harrison, who accepted an invitation to play for Team USA Tuesday, was an All-Pac-12 Conference performer in 2016 after batting .265 with 14 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs and 47 runs batted in. He paced the conference with eight home runs and 30 RBI in Pac-12 action. Ice, a second-round selection by Cleveland last week in the MLB Draft, is a Johnny Bench Award finalist after batting .310 with 13 doubles, five triples, seven home runs and 39 RBI. He was named the Pac-12’s Defensive Player of the Year after committing just one passed ball and threw out better than 44 percent of opposing basestealers. The two honors give the Beavers at least one first or second-team selection for six consecutive seasons. Over that stretch, 11 OSU players have been honored a total of 15 times.
