OSU release – CORVALLIS, Ore. – Elijah Hainline, Mason Guerra and Dallas Macias all homered as Oregon State defeated UC Irvine, 11-6, Monday afternoon to advance to the program’s ninth all-time NCAA Super Regional. The Beavers will head to Lexington to take on host Kentucky in a best-of-three series. The dates and times for the super regional will be announced by the NCAA at a later date. Hainline homered during a five-run second inning, which came after the Anteaters put a four spot on the board in the first. The Beavers eventually built a 6-4 lead before play was stopped Sunday due to rain. UC Irvine scored in the fourth when play resumed Monday but the Beavers increased the lead by scoring in all but the seventh inning from there on. Guerra hit his 11th home run of the season in the eighth inning, and Macias went deep for his eighth in the ninth. Hainline posted three RBI and tallied two of the Beavers’ 14 hits. Micah McDowell led the team with three while Guerra and Jabin Trosky posted two apiece. Five of the 14 hits went for extra bases. Oregon State saw five pitchers take the mound. Eric Segura started and worked three before play was suspended. He was followed by AJ Lattery, who started Monday’s resumption, then AJ Hutcheson, Nelson Keljo and Bridger Holmes. The five combined to hold the Anteaters (45-14 overall) to four hits and five walks. Hutcheson, who worked 1 1/3 innings, got the win to improve to 4-2. The Beavers (45-14) scored four of their 11 runs off reliever David Utagawa, who dropped to 3-1. He did not record an out during the second inning. Oregon State Notes: • The game was suspended officially for 16 hours and 25 minutes after going into suspension at 7:41 p.m. on Monday. • Oregon State has now hit 118 home runs on the year. That’s tied with the 2022 Stanford Cardinal for the second-most ever in conference history.
