Wiese Wins Gold at University Games
GWANGJU, South Korea – Oregon State guard Sydney Wiese made a splash in her first international tournament, helping Team USA earn a gold medal at the World University Games in South Korea. Wiese and the USA squad locked down the first-place finish with an 82-63 win over OSU teammate Ruth Hamblin and Canada early Monday morning in Gwangju. Hamblin led Canada to a silver medal in the tournament, the team’s highest ever finish. Wiese played 17 minutes in the gold medal game, hitting two of her four shot attempts on her way to five points and two assists. Hamblin tallied yet another strong showing in the contest, filling out the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds and a steal. Overall, Team USA finished the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record, while Canada ended the event at 5-1.

Rueck, Gibson Set for Pan-American Games
TORONTO, Ontario – Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck and former Beaver Ali Gibson (2011-15) are set to begin competition in the 2015 Pan-American Games Thursday in Toronto. Rueck will be serving as an assistant coach for Team USA, while Gibson is slated to compete with the Puerto Rican National Team. The women’s basketball portion of the Pan-American Games will begin with group play Thursday-Saturday. The semifinals and finals will be played Sunday and Monday, respectively, and every game of the tournament will be streamed live on ESPN3.com.
