After shooting the lights out at Stanford Thursday in a 78-65 Pac-12 basketball win, Oregon’s men shoot a season low and lose for the first time since 2016 at California Saturday, 69-64. The Ducks (10-6, 18-9) host Oregon State Wednesday, 8p, Matthew Knight Arena, Eugene, televised on FS1. OSU had the same results in California’s Bay Area. The Beavers lost at Cal 81-73 Thursday, and then beat Stanford 85-73 on Saturday. Oregon State (4-13, 12-16) heads down Hwy. 99W, 40-miles to Eugene on Wednesday.

Not a good trip to the Evergreen State for the Oregon Ducks in Pac-12 women’s basketball. Washington beat Oregon Friday 74-66 at Seattle, and Washington State added 71-61 loss on Sunday at Pullman, WA. Oregon (2-14, 11-18) hosts California Thursday, 7p, Matthew Knight Arena, Eugene, on Pac-12 Bay Area. Oregon State got a split on its trip north. The Beavers beat Washington State 65-52 Friday, but lost 61-51 at Seattle Sunday to Washington. OSU (11-5, 22-5) hosts Stanford Thursday, Feb. 29, 7p, Gill Coliseum, Corvallis, on Pac-12 Oregon.

Oregon’s baseball team swept visiting Lafayette in four non-conference baseball games at PK Park, Eugene. On Friday, Oregon won 17-3, Saturday 15-4 & 7-4 and Sunday 12-2. The Ducks (6-1) host UC Santa Barbara for three games beginning Friday, 4:05p, at Eugene, on Oregon Live Stream. Oregon State’s baseball team won two-out-of-three at the Kubota College Baseball Series, Arlington, TX. On Friday, OSU lost to Arkansas 5-4, on Saturday, beat Michigan 11-1 (7), and Sunday downed Oklahoma State 8-1. Oregon State (7-1) hosts North Dakota State for four-games beginning Thursday, 5:35p, Goss Stadium, Corvallis, on Oregon State Live Stream-2.

Oregon’s softball team went 3-2 at the Mary Nutter Classic, Cathedral City, CA. On Thursday, the Ducks beat UCF 4-3, but lost to Baylor 3-2. On Friday, Oregon beat Notre Dame 8-2, and Long Beach State 11-4. Saturday, the Ducks fell to Nebraska 6-0. Oregon (9-7) hosts the Jane Sanders Classic beginning Thursday at Eugene against Mount St. Mary’s, 3:30p, on Oregon Live Stream-2. Oregon State also competed at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, but lost five and won one. On Thursday, the Beavers fell to Wisconsin 3-2, but beat Bethune-Cookman 7-3. On Friday, OSU lost to UCF 7-2. Saturday fell to Notre Dame 8-2, and Tennessee 6-1. Sunday, Oregon State lost to Northwestern 4-0. OSU (6-10) goes to the Judi Garman Classic Friday, March 1, 9:30a, to play Michigan at Fullerton, CA.

UO release – SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oregon track and field team picked up four wins and had five top-10 program performances Saturday on the final day of the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite. Rafael Raap finished a wire-to-wire victory in heptathlon with the Ducks’ other wins coming in the women’s 4×400 relay and individual titles from Ryann Porter in the triple jump and Jaida Ross in the shot put. Raap led throughout the two-day, seven-event competition and posted a winning tally of 5,757 points. The effort doubles as a new collegiate best for the UO standout and makes him the No. 5 performer in UO history. Like Friday’s start in the 60 meters, Raap began day two with a lifetime best of 8.31 in the 60-meter hurdles and followed with a clearance of 4.75m/15-7 in the pole vault. The UO women capped the weekend with a victory in the 4×400-meter relay in a season-best time of 3:30.25 from Shana Grebo, Ella Clayton, Katriina Wright and Shaniya Hall. Based on times entering the weekend, the Ducks’ relay moves into the top eight in the NCAA this season. The quartet had a season best of 3:31.34 prior to Saturday’s race. In an indoor-best showing, Porter bookended her series with identical marks of 13.01m/42-8.25 to win the competition and add a centimeter to her previous best. Five of her six measures Saturday were far enough to claim the top spot. Porter now moves into sole possession of the No. 4 spot on the program top-10 list. Ross added the Ducks’ second first-place performance of the day while topping her own meet record in the process. She improved on each of her first three throws, getting a measure of 18.34m/60-2 in round three. Ross improved by five centimeters for a day’s best of 18.39m/60-4 on her final toss. The Medford native won the competition by just over five feet. Maddy Elmore led a trio of lifetime-best performances in the mile, dropping her best of 4:31.41 which moved the Eugene native from eighth to fourth on the UO list. While establishing a new personal best, Mia Barnett added her name to the program’s all-time list—No. 10—with a 4:33.40 in Saturday’s mile. The two standouts finished second and fifth, respectively, in the race. The third lifetime best came from Junction City grad Anika Thompson (4:487.37) who knocked more than 20 seconds off her previous best from last season. It was her second PB in as many races this weekend after a 9:18.57 over 3,000 meters Friday evening. Freshman Osawese Agbonkonkon was second in the men’s high jump with a clearance of 2.10m/6-10.75 which marks a collegiate-best effort. He began the weekend with a season’s best of 2.07m/6-9.5 from a month ago at the Razorback Invitational. Up Next: National qualifiers will be announced next week with the top 16 declared athletes and top 12 relays advancing to the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships (March 8-9) in Boston.

OSU release – SEATTLE, Wash. – Kaylee Mitchell secured yet another school record in the 5,000 meters to highlight Oregon State’s weekend at the Ken Shannon Invite. The effort highlighted a strong day for the distance squad, which also posted or improved three OSU Top 10 marks with Kate Laurent (9:23.68) improving the no. 5 mark all time while Erika Cunniam (9:26.89) entered the 10 best at no. 7 and Noemi Lundgren (9:30.68) moved up to no. 8. The Beavs had one thrower at the meet – Jayla Hooper – who competed unattached. For the second straight meet, Hooper easily surpassed the current school record, this time with a 18.73m/61-5 toss that finished third. The senior is redshirting this season. Grace Proudfoot highlighted the performance of the Beaver jumpers, entering the OSU Top 10 with a 1.71m/5-7.25 clearance to place third and earn the 10th spot all-time. In the sprints, Oregon State got a super performance from its 60m crew with Jada Hurley just coming in behind her school record while Delaney Bahn moved up to no. 8 with a 7.90. Hurley also improved the no. 8 400m time in school history with a 56.93. UP NEXT: Qualifying Beavs head to Boston for the NCAA Championships on March 9-10. The remainder of the team opens outdoor season at Willamette on March 2.
