OSU release – CORVALLIS, Ore. – Justin Boyd drove in three runs and stole three bases as No. 2 Oregon State lost to No. 12 Gonzaga, 13-6, Monday in the first of two games between the teams at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. Boyd drove in all three runs – and his three stolen bases, for that matter – in the first two innings as Oregon State (27-8) found itself up 6-4 entering the third inning. Gonzaga (24-9), however, utilized a seven-run third inning to go ahead for good. Boyd, Wade Meckler and Jake Dukart all posted two hits for the Beavers, who finished with 10 as a team. Dukart doubled and hit his third triple of the season. Jacob Rutherford earned the win for Gonzaga, tossing 4 2/3 innings in relief. He scattered three hits and a run to improve to 2-0 on the year. Jaren Hunter started for the Beavers, taking the loss to drop to 1-1 on the year. He gave up seven hits and eight runs in two innings.
