OSU sports
Oregon State’s football team fell 19-14 at home Saturday to Utah.  The Beavers (1-2, 2-4) play at Washington this Saturday, Oct. 15, 1 p.m.  The volleyball team fell 3-0 to UCLA at home Friday.  On Sunday, the Beavers lost to USC 3-0.  Next up for OSU (1-7, 8-11) is Colorado Friday and Utah Saturday, both on the road.  The men’s soccer team lost 2-1 at home to Washington on Friday.  Oregon State (0-3-2, 4-6-3) is at Stanford Thursday and California Sunday.  The women’s soccer team fell Friday at home, 3-2 to Stanford.  The Beavers (0-6-0, 5-8-2) host Arizona State Thursday and Arizona Sunday.

The teams from Southern California made it a clean sweep of Ducks in Pac-12 volleyball play, and both matches were in Eugene.  UCLA did it first last Wednesday with a 3-2 win, but USC capped it Friday with a 3-1 win.  Oregon (5-3, 12-5) next plays at Utah Friday and Colorado Saturday.  The women’s soccer team fell 2-0 at home Saturday to California.  Oregon (0-6-0, 6-8-1) next hosts Arizona Thursday and Arizona State Saturday in Eugene.  The Duck football team (0-3, 2-4) had the weekend off and will next play at Cal on Friday in Berkeley, CA.

Edward Cheserek won again, while a handful of newcomers helped lead the Oregon cross country teams’ efforts Saturday at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana.  The No. 4 men won with 85 points. No. 5 Arkansas was second with 110 points, followed by No. 6 Colorado (124), No. 20 Michigan (200), No. 13 Indiana (254) and No. 12 Texas-El Paso (257). The ninth-ranked women made a statement with a second-place finish. No. 2 Colorado won with 93 points. The Ducks were next at 154, followed by No. 13 Michigan (179), No. 5 Portland (196), No. 12 Arkansas (225), No. 7 Stanford (229) and No. 16 Eastern Michigan (255).
