OSU release – PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon State cross country team opened up the 2019 season on a good note by capturing the second annual Viking Rust Buster title hosted by Portland State. The Beavers finished the race six strong with sophomore Haley Wolf securing the individual title followed by redshirt junior Lexi Reed. This marks the second consecutive year the Beavs have won the meet title while also having a Beaver finish in first with Lexi Reed winning last year. A deep and talented roster was showcased locally as eight out of the fifteen Beavers participating finished in the top-ten. The women navigated the course with collective poise as Wolf paced the team from the start, needing a time of only 13:32.3 to finish the 4K course at Blue Lake Park. Reed followed just after Wolf for a second-place finish at 13:39.2.  Oregon State next runs at the Sundowner Invitational in Monmouth Friday, Sept. 20.
