Paving to begin soon on US 101 between Newport and Waldport, June 24

A paving project, scheduled to begin next week, will result in nighttime single lane restrictions on US 101 between Newport and Waldport.  There are two sections of the project:  • MP 146.9 – 153.2 (Approx. Lost Creek recreation area south through Seal Rock) • MP 154.7-155.25 (North end of the Alsea Bay Bridge extending north about a half mile).  Beginning as early as Tuesday, June 24, 2014 a contractor for ODOT will upgrade the older pavement on US 101 by removing a layer of the old asphalt and replacing it with a layer of new asphalt. A small slide will also be repaired north of the Alsea Bay Bridge. Sections of newer pavement will not be replaced.  The paving will be done at night, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m.  Flaggers and pilot cars will be controlling traffic in the work zone. Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians should anticipate delays of 5 to 15 minutes.  Completion is scheduled for July 31.
