On January 28, 2017 at approximately 7:30pm the Oregon State Police and medical personnel responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on SR 99E between SE Jennings Rd and SE Boardman Rd. Preliminary investigation revealed that a blue 2003 Ford Taurus, operated by Alfredo Gil PONCE, age 38 of Oregon City, was traveling southbound on 99E when a pedestrian, Ebodio Castrejon VILLANUEVA, age 41, of Milwaukie, began crossing the SR 99E outside of a designated crosswalk. VILLANUEVA was struck in the B-Lane of travel and suffered fatal injuries. VILLANUEVA was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin notification has been made. At this location on SR 99E, the lighting conditions are dimly and VILLANUEVA was wearing non-contrasting clothing at the time of the crash. PONCE in cooperating with the investigation. SR 99E was closed for three hours following the crash.
