NBPD release – Arrested: Culver, Kelsey Jean, 31 YOA Coos Bay resident; Victim: Hagquist, Kyle Alan, 41 YOA Coos Bay resident. On March 22, 2022 at 1721 hrs. the North Coos Dispatch Center received a 911 call regarding a vehicle vs. pedestrian hit and run in the Pony Village parking lot near the Mini Pet Mart. The involved vehicle was described as a silver or gold Lexus SUV bearing OR lic# 747KCN. The vehicle was last observed heading south.  The vehicle was later observed on Koos Bay Blvd. by a NBPD officer heading south. A short time later Dispatch received reports of the same gold Lexus driving recklessly on HWY 101 heading south from Koos Bay Blvd. The Lexus later sideswiped another SUV at the intersection of Newport and HWY 101 before failing to negotiate a corner at Newport and Edwards where it crashed into a construction container and utility trailer in front of the Bachelors Inn. A Coos Bay Police Officer was in the area at the time of the crash and took the operator, Kelsey Culver, into custody. North Bend Police officers along with North Bend Fire Department arrived at Pony Village. The pedestrian, Kyle Hagquist, was critically injured and transported to Bay Area Hospital before being Life Flighted to River Bend Hospital in Springfield. The Coos County Major Crime Team and Coos County Crash Team responded to assist with the investigation.
