Pedestrian Safety Operation, Sept. 7

CBPD release – On September 5th, 2018 the Coos Bay Police Department conducted a Pedestrian Safety Operation at the intersection of 8th Street and Central Ave., which has generated pedestrian related complaints in the past.  The operation was conducted between the hours of 8:00am and 10:45am. During the operation, police officers from the Coos Bay Police Department made 24 traffic stops.  Warnings and citations were issued for pedestrian related violations, cell phone/distracted driver violations, seatbelt and other violations. The focus of operations like these is to raise the pedestrian safety awareness of drivers and pedestrians through education and enforcement of pedestrian right-of-way laws.
