Plane Stalled before Crashing into the Pacific Ocean, June 30

A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) regarding a single-engine plane wreck on the Central Oregon Coast near Florence June 15 indicates that its engine stalled before spiraling into the ocean killing 69-year old Richard Munger, Florence, and his 15-year old grandson, Benjuamin Dressler, Burien, WA.  Parts of the Grumman American AA-5B are still being recovered from the ocean and the investigation into the cause of the stalled engine is continuing.  The plane had left the Florence Municipal Airport about an hour before the crash.  Witnesses reported the plane descended from the clouds, increased in power then stalled before spinning into the ocean.
