Plastics, produced through petroleum products, are a problem for our planet. Very visible in the oceans of the world, countries are slowly doing something about it. Oregon steps up with a plastic bag ban beginning Jan. 1, 2020. Business that provide plastic bags as a convenience to their customers are adjusting. Some will go to paper bags and that could cost you more at the check stand. Consumers are urged to purchase their own cloth or fiber bags for reuse. Those who receive food benefit, including WIC, will not be charged for a paper bag.
