Prefontaine/Rotary Invitational, April 8

Crook County’s boys and South Eugene’s girls won the 22nd Annual Prefontaine/Rotary Invitational Track Meet at Marshfield High School, Coos Bay, Saturday. The Cowboys tallied 102-points to South Eugene’s 92. Marshfield’s boys were third with 69, followed by North Bend with 58. Myrtle Pt. was 11th, Bandon tied Gold Beach for 15th, Pacific came in 18th and Brookings-Harbor 20th. South Eugene’s girls won with 93-points, North Bend was third with 82, Coquille fourth (79) and Bandon fifth (74). Marshfield was ninth, followed by Myrtle Pt. in 10th, and Brookings-Harbor tied North Douglas for 15th. Individually for the boys: North Bend senior Jason Padgett won both the 100 (11.23, 2nd best in 4A) and the 200 (23.15). He also anchored the Bulldogs short relay team to second place (44.26, 5th best 4A), behind Marshfield (43.74, 2nd best 4A) which took both the 4X100 and the 4X400 (3:29.63, best in 4A). Pirate junior Bodey Lutes anchored both winning relay teams and also won the 400 (48.50, best in 4A) in a new meet record. Myrtle Point senior Mason Detzler won both the Shot Put (58-3.25, new meet record) and the Discus (150-5). Marshfield swept the top two spots in the Pole Vault with two seniors. John Parks won (14-3, best in 4A), while teammate Danner Wilson was second (13-6, 2nd best in 4A). Girl’s individually: Bandon sophomore Marley Petrey won three events and was second in another. She won the 100 (13.13), 400 (60.91), 300H (48.38) and was second in the Triple Jump (34-11.75 best in 2A). The Tigers also got senior Analise Miller on the awards stand with a first-place finish in the 800 (2:30.82). North Bend sophomore Ellie Massey won the Prefontaine Mile in 5:31.53 and was third in the 3K (11:01.77 3rd best 4A). Marshfield senior Daphne Scriven won the Discus (120-3) and took second in the Shot Put (33-10). Coquille senior Callie Millet won the Javelin (123-4 best in 3A) and was second in the Pole Vault (10-6) to winner Abby Woodruff, North Bend (10-6). The Red Devils Melanie Lambson won the Long Jump (17-3 best in 3A). Next meet for North Bend is Monday at Marist Catholic (Eugene), and for Marshfield, Tuesday at Junction City.
