Marshfield is maintaining its No. 4 spot in the OSAA/Coaches Weekly Prep 4A Basketball Poll. The Lady Pirates (15-5) trail No. 1 Baker (20-2); No. 2 Gladstone (18-3); and, No. 3 Astoria (20-2). Bandon (21-4) is No. 6 in the 2A Poll. The OSAA 3A Girl’s State Championships are March 2-4 in the Bay Area. This week’s top 3A teams: No. 1 Banks (22-1); No. 2 Sutherlin (23-2); No. 3 Corbett (21-3); No. 4 Amity (20-3); No. 5 Santiam Christian (20-5); No. 6 Nyssa (20-4); No. 7 Lakeview (22-3); No. 8 Pleasant Hill (20-1); No. 9 Riverdale (18-7); and tied for No. 10 Westside Christian (16-9) & Valley Catholic (16-6). Tickets to the State Tournament will be available through www.OSAA.org

Marshfield’s girls moved into a tie for first-place with Marist Catholic in the District 4 prep basketball race by beating the Spartans on their home floor 37-31 Tuesday night at Eugene. Both teams have one game remaining Friday, Marist Catholic (6-1, 15-6) at Cottage Grove (1-6, 4-18) and North Bend (1-6, 6-16) at Marshfield (6-1, 16-5).

Marshfield’s boys dropped a District 4 prep basketball game 54-33 at Marist Catholic Tuesday night in Eugene. Junction City (8-0, 22-2) clinched the league championship outright with a 93-40 win at Cottage Grove. The Lions (2-5, 10-12) host second-place Marist Catholic (5-2, 11-11) Friday, while Marshfield (1-6, 10-13) hosts North Bend (2-5, 8-12) in the final regular season game for the league.
