High school state football championships are on the line in Oregon this weekend. At the top of the heap is the 6A classification with unbeaten Sheldon, from Eugene, taking on West Linn. The two schools met in Week No. 2 with the Irish winning. Sheldon is coached by former Marshfield coach/player Josh Line. His offensive coordinator is former Pirate Marty Johnson and the quarterback is Brock Thomas son of former Marshfield QB Aaron Thomas (early 80s). They’ll play Friday, 3 p.m., Hillsboro Stadium. The inaugural 6A Columbia Cup Championship has No. Salem and Westview at 11 a.m., Friday, Hillsboro Stadium, and the 5A game has Wilsonville & Summit at 7 p.m., Friday, at Hillsboro Stadium. On Saturday, the 4A championship has Tillamook and Estacada, 4:30 p.m., Hillsboro Stadium; 3A is at Cottage Grove, 4:30 p.m., Cascade Christian (Medford) vs. Kennedy (Mt. Angel). The 2A championship is a 1 p.m. contest at Hillsboro Stadium between Weston/McEwen/Griswold & Oakland, while the 1A 8-player game is at Cottage Grove, 1 p.m., St. Paul vs. Lost River (Merrill/Malin).
