Marshfield’s football team won its fifth in-a-row and clinched a playoff spot with a 16-0 win in the mud at Elmira Friday night in 4A District 4 football. The game was scoreless until a minute left in the third quarter when Sam Grayson returned a punt 85-yards for the go-ahead and winning touchdown. Marshfield added another six on an interception by Josiah Niblett and return of five-yards. The final points came on the leg of Arturo Ledesma and a field goal. The Pirates (3-0, 5-2) host co-league leader Marist Catholic (3-0, 6-1) in a final regular season game Friday in Coos Bay. The Spartans beat visiting Junction City 49-14 during their Homecoming game in Eugene. North Bend lost its 5A Special District 2 – North game at Redmond Friday night, 36-24. The Bulldogs (1-2, 4-3) are tied for fourth with Ridgeview. North Bend hosts Ridgeview (1-2, 2-5) Friday night at Vic Adams Field.
