Visiting Marist Catholic defeated Marshfield 27-21 in a 4A District 4 championship football game at Pete Susick Stadium in Coos Bay Friday night. With the win, the Spartans win the league title and the Pirates finish second. Both teams qualify for post season play. The OSAA Power Rankings froze Saturday night, Oct. 26. The “Play-In” round will take place Friday or Saturday, Nov. 1 or 2 for eight-teams. The winners will then be seeded into a “First Round” playoff with the 12 teams that received byes from the “Play-In” round. Marshfield (5-3) is ranked No. 15. Defending state champion Banks (8-0) is ranked No. 1, followed by No. 2 Mazama (7-1), No. 3 La Grande (8-0), No. 4 North Marion (6-2) and No. 5 Marist Catholic (7-1). North Bend is in third place in the 5A North Special District 2. The Bulldogs throttled visiting Ridgeview 72-0 at Vic Adams Field Friday night. North Bend (2-2, 5-3) ends the regular season Friday at Willamette in Eugene.
