Marshfield senior quarterback Dom Montiel threw for four scores and ran for another as the Pirates opened the 2021 prep football season with a 35-20 win over visiting Mazama at Pete Susick Stadium, Coos Bay. Marshfield (1-0) is scheduled to play at Churchill, west Eugene, Friday. The Lancers (1-0) beat Eagle Pt. 35-28 at So. Albany to open the season. North Bend dropped its opener to visiting Crater 31-0 Saturday also at Pete Susick Stadium. The Bulldogs (0-1) are scheduled to play at Ashland Friday. The Grizzlies (0-1) dropped their opener 35-14 to visiting Henley Friday night.
