Marshfield and Cottage Grove split a District 4 prep softball doubleheader at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay Friday. The Pirates were up by nine-runs going into the top of the seventh, but couldn’t stop the Lions rally and lost 19-14. The second game was called due to darkness after the sixth inning with Marshfield ahead 13-10. The Lady Pirates (4-2) are scheduled to end the first half of the league season at first-place Marist Catholic (6-0) Tuesday at Eugene. North Bend softball won its third-in-a-row Friday in downing visiting Willamette 5-3 at the Oak St. Field. The Bulldogs (3-1) are scheduled to play a doubleheader at Churchill, Eugene, Monday, 3 & 5 p.m.
