State Cheer
Both Marshfield and North Bend cheer squads did well at the OSAA State Cheer Championships Saturday at Oregon City HS. The Pirates, competing in the 4A/3A/2A1A Coed Traditional placed second to champion Gladstone 104.10 to 88.60. North Bend was fourth in the 4A Traditional following state champion Newport (107.10). Sweet Home (102.20) was second followed by Philomath (96.80), the Bulldogs (93.80) and Stayton (87.40).

Mazama of Klamath Falls won the seven-team Special District 3 Regional Wrestling Championship Saturday at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay. The Vikings tallied 340-points to Marshfield’s 320. North Bend was fourth with 196.5. Individually for Marshfield and North Bend: 106 – Garron Castro (M) took 1st place; 113- Christian Woodram (M) 1st, Hadyn Widdicombe (M) 3rd; 120 – Trayton Forbes (M) 1st, Brody Cross (M) 2nd; 132 – Reese Hite (M) 1st, Nicholas Campbell (NB) 2nd; 138 – Ethan Flood (M) 3rd; 144 – Wyatt Smith (NB) 1st, Jackson Swanson (NB) 2nd; 150 – Parker Pruett (NB) 2nd; 175 – Aryan Wright (M) 1st, Aaron Sinnott (M) 2nd; 190 – Wyatt Petley (M) 2nd; 215 – Richardo Chacon (M) 3rd; 285 – Bryson Harvey (M) 2nd, Skyler Falau (M) 3rd.
