OSAA Basketball Rankings
The Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) froze its prep basketball rankings Tuesday night. North Bend’s girls (16-9) will have a 4A “Play-In” game at St. Helens (11-13), while Cottage Grove (14-12) goes to Scappoose (10-12) as an “At-Large” team. League champion Marshfield (14-10) and second-place Marist Catholic (11-10) will wait for the “Play-In” round to be completed before hosting a First-Round game. In the girls’ 3A, eighth-ranked Coquille (23-3) will play at 10th ranked Creswell (19-7) Feb. 24. In the girls’ 2A – second-ranked Bandon (24-2) will host 15th ranked Santiam (14-13) on Feb. 24th. In girls 1A – 20th ranked Myrtle Pt. (18-8) at 13th ranked Union (19-6) Feb. 21st, 6p. and 26th ranked Powers (17-10) at seventh ranked North Clackamas Christian (20-4), Feb. 21, 6p. In the 4A boys, seventh-ranked Marist Catholic (25-6) and second-ranked Junction City (19-2) get the top two spots from District 4, while ninth-ranked Marshfield (13-10) is No. 3 and will host 23rd ranked The Dalles (7-16) in a “Play-In” round. Seventeenth-ranked Cottage Grove (8-14) will play at 13th ranked Newport (13-9).

North Bend’s girls beat visiting Cottage Grove 53-38 in a 4A District 4 basketball game. The Bulldogs (4-4, 16-9) finish as the No. 3 team from the league. Coquille’s boys lost a “Play-In” game at Burns Tuesday, 69-45. The Red Devils finish 7-7 in league and 15-10 overall.

Marshfield’s girls will play a “tune-up” prep basketball game with Klamath Union on Friday, Feb. 23, 6p, at Grants Pass HS in Southern Oregon.

Prep GBXB Polls
Bandon (24-2) sits on top of the final OSAA/Coach’s 2A Prep Basketball Poll. Marshfield (14-10) is No. 10 in the 4A Poll. The OSAA 3A Girls’ State Basketball Tournament takes place Feb. 29 – March 2 in the Bay Area. Corbett (23-0) is No. 1, followed by Amity (21-3), Sutherlin (23-2), Vale (22-2), and Banks (18-6) at No. 5.

Prep BBXB Polls
No South Coast boys’ prep basketball teams made the final OSAA/Coach’s Polls released this week. The 3A State Basketball Tournament takes place in the Bay Area, Feb. 29 – March 2. The top-ranked 3A is team is Cascade Christian (20-6) out of Medford. Westside Christian (20-5) from Tigard is No. 2, followed by northeast Portland’s De La Salle North Catholic (17-7), Valley Catholic of Beaverton (19-6), and Douglas of Winston (21-4) at No. 5.
