North Bend’s band opens the OSAA State Band Championships Thursday, 6:45 p.m., LaSells Stewart Center on the campus of Oregon State University at Corvallis.
North Bend Boy’s Golf Headed to State
At the 4A Special District 2 Golf Championships, Marist Catholic won, followed by Cascade, North Bend and Marshfield. Kyler Hemelstrand, a senior for Cascade, was the individual medalist (79, 74 – 153) on the course at Emerald Valley Golf Club, Creswell. North Bend junior Owen Wilson was second overall (76, 79-155). North Bend – Jordan Highland, Head Coach – team: Owen Wilson, 11 (76, 79) – 2nd; Chance Karr, 10 (98, 86) – 18th; Dashul Gordon, 11 (94, 84) – 12th; Behr Gordon, 10 (99, 89) 23rd; Jake Denbo, 12 (94, 86) 15th. At the Running Y Golf Course, Klamath Falls, 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 3 Golf Tournament, North Bend’s girls took first place, followed by Marist Catholic, Marshfield and St. Mary’s. Marist Catholic senior Esha Reddy was the medalist (76-75, 151). North Bend senior Cassie Kennon was second (79-74, 153). MHS release – GIRLS GOLF: The 2024 girls golf team have earned a trip to the 4A, 3A, 2A, and 1A Girls OSAA State Finals at Tokatee Golf Club set for Monday and Tuesday, May 13-14. Congratulations to first year head coach Melinda Torres and her team for representing the Pirates well at Running Y Golf Club’s Special District 3 District Championship. TEAM MEMBERS: Bella Roberts- 5th at district and 1st team all-league. Analise McCord- 6th at district 2nd team all-league. Shay Herzog-14th at district honorable mention all-league. Annika Bones & Kiri Goodson. BOYS GOLF: The boys are headed back to state for the second year in a row under head coach Tyler Mulkey earning a spot at the OSAA State Golf Championship. The tournament will be held at Emerald Valley Golf Club Monday and Tuesday, May 13-14. TEAM MEMBERS: Enoch Niblett- 10th at district 2nd team all-league. Kody Chandler- 13th at district honorable mention all-league. Mason Aurdahl, Eli Luckman, Lucas Hyatt, & Elijah Goodson.

Marshfield’s softball team won the 4A Sky-Em League softball championship with a doubleheader sweep at North Bend Wednesday, 20-7 & 19-9. The Pirates finish 11-1 in league, 18-6 overall. North Bend is second at 7-5 & 11-7. 3A – Glide swept visiting Coquille, 14-4 (5) & 18-3. 2A/1A – Visiting Toledo beat Bandon/Pacific, 18-5. Myrtle Point/Powers beat visiting Eddyville Charter, 12-1.
