Prefontaine/Rotary Invitational
Grants Pass’ track & field teams swept the 20th Annual Prefontaine/Rotary Invitational Track Meet on Prefontaine Track, Coos Bay, Saturday. North Bend’s boys were second to the Cavemen, while Marshfield came in fourth. Eureka was second in the girl’s team race with North Bend fifth and Marshfield tied for seventh with Sutherlin. Senior John Eframison led the Bulldogs with a first place finish in the 200 (23.21) and second in the 400 (51.27). Marshfield’s Alexander Garcia-Silver (9:05.89) won the 3,000 and placed second in the Prefontaine Mile (4:28.44). North Bend’s 4X100 Relay team (Drew Phillips, Efraimson, Brody Justice, Jason Padgett) took first (44.21), with Marshfield (Aaron Hutchins, Elijah Fox, Cael Church, Jonah Putman) second (44.99). Senior Roman Fritz won the Javelin (179-2) for North Bend, with junior Keegan Young second (161-4). Marshfield junior Trent Summers won the Pole Vault (14-6). For the girls, Marshfield senior Bailey Wallack placed second in the 400 (1:02.37). North Bend freshman Drew Hood won the Triple Jump (33-6). Marshfield’s next meet is at Junction City on Tuesday, April 19. North Bend’s next meet is Wednesday, hosting Churchill, 3:45 p.m. first event.

North Bend swept a pair of 5A Midwestern League softball games from Churchill at North Eugene Saturday. The Bulldogs won 11-8 & 19-4. North Bend (2-6, 5-9) is scheduled to host Thurston Tuesday, April 19, 5 p.m.

North Bend’s baseball team fell 6-5 at Churchill in west Eugene Saturday. No score on the second game was available. The Bulldogs (1-6, 7-7) are scheduled to play Tuesday at home to Thurston, 5 p.m., Clyde Allen Field.
