A three-run homer by Marshfield freshman Tatum Montiel helped spark the Lady Pirates to a 14-10 win over visiting Elmira Tuesday at Southwestern Oregon CC, Coos Bay. The 4A District 4 league game was originally scheduled for the Falcon’s field, but it was deemed un-playable leading to the switch to the Laker’s all-turf field. Senior Alaina Sullivan was three-for-four at the plate with three RBIs and a run scored. Marshfield (2-2, 5-8) is scheduled to host Junction City Friday, 3 & 5 p.m., ESD Field. North Bend’s home game with Thurston was cancelled.

Marshfield beat Elmira/Triangle Lake 19-5 in a 4A District 4 baseball game on the Falcon’s Field Tuesday. The Pirates (2-2, 6-7) are scheduled to host Junction City Friday, Coos Bay, 3 & 5 p.m.

A JV 4A District 4 track meet Tuesday at Junction City was won by the JC boys (101) and Marist Catholic girls (130). Marshfield was second in the boy’s race (94) and fourth in the girl’s race (47). Individually for the Pirates, sophomore Jonathon Parks won both the 100 (11.96) & 200 (23.74) and took the Long Jump (19-8). Sophomore Danner Wilson won the Triple Jump (39-6) and placed second in the Pole Vault (13-6) to Pirate junior Trent Summers (14-0). Wilson also tied for third in the High Jump (5-2). Sophomore Chance Browning was second in the Discus (102.9.5) and teammate sophomore Harper Thompson third (101-9). The team of John Lemmons, Elijah Cellura, Chase Johnston, & Jacob Calvert ran second in the 4X400 Relay (3:59.12). On the girl’s side, freshman Keira Crawford won the High Jump (4-8). Classmate Alie Clark took the Triple Jump (29-5) & was second in the Long Jump (14-8.75). Marshfield went 2, 3, 4, 5 in the Javelin with junior Kate Miles (90-1), senior Hannah Folau (87-8), junior Rylinn Clark (77-11) & freshman Marleya Matthews (53-5). Senior Charlie Dea was third in both the 100 (14.16) & Long Jump (14-3.75). Marshfield’s next meet is at the Central Coast Invitational Friday, Florence.

North Bend’s track team is scheduled to host Churchill on Frank Shriver Track, Vic Adams Field, Wednesday, 3:45 p.m.
