Marshfield’s baseball team beat visiting Sweet Home 10-4 in a non-league prep baseball game at Coos Bay Tuesday. The Pirates (4-5) are scheduled to open league play next Tuesday at home to Junction City.

North Bend junior sprinter Jason Padgett won both the 100 (11.48) & the 200 (24.04) at a District 4 JV meet at Junction City Tuesday. Padgett also ran the anchor leg on the Bulldogs winning 4X100 Relay Team (Nathaniel Folsom, Andrew Efraimson, Brody Justice, & Padgett) 44.27. Marshfield junior Jonathon Parks tied teammate Trent Summers in winning the Pole Vault (14-0), and finished second in the 200 (24.75). Freshman Ellie Massey was first in the 1500 (5:17.96) to lead the North Bend girls. Sophomore Keira Crawford was first in the High Jump (4-08) & second in the Long Jump (14-0) for Marshfield while sophomore Alie Clarke won the Long Jump (14-0) & Triple Jump (30-4.75). Junior Abby Woodruff was first in the Pole Vault (10-0) for North Bend. Both teams will compete Saturday at the Prefontaine/Rotary Track Meet at Marshfield.
