Marshfield’s basketball teams got a split on the first day of the South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament at MHS Thursday. The Pirate boys lost their opener to Hidden Valley 34-32, but the Lady Pirates beat the Mustangs 54-20 in the final game of the first day to advance to the championship semi-finals Friday night against Astoria at 7 p.m. Astoria beat Crook Co. 41-40 to advance to the Final Four. Marshfield’s boys will play Crook Co. at 10:15 a.m. in a consolation semi-final. Crook Co. fell to Cascade Christian, Medford, 74-38 to advance to the boy’s Final Four.

North Bend’s basketball teams will host Creswell in a pair of non-league prep games Friday. Bulldogs girls at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys.
