Girl’s Prep BBX Polls
Bandon remains the only girls’ basketball team listed in the weekly OSAA/Coach’s Prep Basketball Poll. The Tigers (5-0) are No. 3 in the 2A Poll behind Salem Academy and Gervais.
Boy’s Prep BBX Polls
Marshfield is ranked No. 1 in this week’s OSAA/Coach’s 4A Boys’ Basketball Poll. The Pirates (4-1) are followed by league foe Junction City (4-0) and Cascade (3-1) both tied for second. Marist Catholic (2-1) comes in at No. 5.
OSAA Reclassification
The Oregon Schools Activities Association (OSAA) Executive Board met Monday and approved another six-classification alignment for the next four-years beginning in the Fall of 2022. North Bend will move back down to 4A and join Marshfield in District 4. Coquille will move up to the 3A Far West League. Elmira and Siuslaw will drop to 3A. Football special districts, which deviate from regular districts, are to be determined for 2022. The football ad-hoc committee will discuss the matter at its next meeting Dec. 20.
South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament
Eight-girls’ teams and eight boy’s teams are in the Bay Area for the annual South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament at Marshfield High School Thursday through Saturday. The Pirates are the host team and both North Bend teams will participate this year. First round games on Thursday begin with the Brookings girls playing Junction City in the Marshfield Junior High at 4 p.m., while North Bend’s girls take on Crook County at 4 p.m. in the Pirate Palace. Also in the main gym, at 5:30 p.m., Crook Co. and North Bend’s boys play, followed by Marshfield’s girls and Hidden Valley at 7 p.m. and the Pirate boys against Hidden Valley at 8:30 p.m. to end the first day. Games on Friday begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Main Gym. Marshfield’s games will be broadcast live on FM 105.1, KMHS and streamed at www.kmhsonline.com
