Marshfield’s basketball teams split a pair of 4A District 4 league games on Friday with visiting Marist Catholic at the Pirate Palace in Coos Bay. Both games involved a battle for second place. The Lady Pirates lost 52-42 dropping Marshfield into third-place (5-3, 15-7). The boys (6-1, 18-4) won 52-49 solidifying at least second place with three-games remaining. Junction City is in first place in both races.

North Bend’s boys lost 59-33 to visiting Eagle Pt. Friday in a 5A Midwestern League basketball game. The Bulldogs (0-12, 2-19) are scheduled to play at Churchill in Eugene Tuesday with four-games remaining in the regular season. North Bend’s girls also lost to the visiting Eagles, 32-17. The Bulldogs (5-7, 11-10) are also at Churchill Tuesday with four-remaining.

Marshfield placed fifth as a team at the 4A Special District 3 wrestling championships Saturday at Klamath Union High School. Mazama took the team title followed by Henley. The Pirates Reese Hite won the 106 weight class, defeating teammate Spencer Pederson in the finals. Jonathan Calvert won the 152 weight class. Miguel Velasquez won the 195 division, and Hayden Murphy was runner-up at 220. North Bend placed 8th at the 5A District Championships Saturday at Eagle Pt. High School.
